Sports stars are, by and large, a watch brand’s default celebrity category when searching for ambassadors. From tennis and football through athletics, golf and even triathletes, there is no sport without a sponsored wrist in it somewhere. Hublot is one brand that casts its net a little wider – in the past it has collaborated with street artists, tattooists and concert pianists. And now it launches its second collaboration with renowned Pop-art phenomenon Richard Orlinski. Orlinski, whose moniker of “the sculptor who breaks the rules” makes you wonder whether he should have teamed up with a certain Le Brassus-based brand instead, is a Parisian sculptor – Hublot Classic Fusion Chronograph Orlinski Ceramic replica watch now with a sideline in music – who, in 2004, devised his Born Wild concept. It claims to explore the relation between instinct and civilising emotional forces by creating boldly coloured sculptures of animals in heavily faceted materials such as stone, glas

On the sidelines of SIHH 2017, TAG Heuer and the other watch brands in the LVMH Group (Hublot and Zenith) will be presenting novelties to journalists and retailers who have flocked to Geneva for the week. Following on from the full Black Ceramic Heuer-01 we showed you earlier this week, TAG returns to the roots of its collection, with a sporty and masculine Carrera Chronograph, dressed in black and beige, for a slight vintage look. Here is the TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 16 Chrono Black Titanium replica watch . This new watch is in the same vein as existing watches of the brand, such as this model. This watch has been in the collection for 10 years already and so TAG Heuer

The 55th edition of the Rolex 24 (aka 24 hours of Daytona) race took place, sponsored by, of course, Rolex. Part of what that means is that the winner get’s a special Rolex watch, so we were naturally interested to have a look at the watch itself. After 659 laps over the course of 24 hours around the Daytona speedway in Florida, Ricky Taylor, driving the No. 10 Konica Minolta Cadillac DPi-V.R was the winner. Along with the bragging rights, the prestige of winning the race, and (obviously) the trophy, Taylor and his team (which includes Jeff Gordon) are also receiving a Rolex Cosmograph Daytona watch in two-tone steel and yellow gold with a white dial. This is clearly not just any Rolex Daytona, but is engraved on the back exclaiming it’s meant for the wrist of the driver who wins the grueling 24-hour race. When discussing the win, Taylor specifically referenced the watch’s significance, saying, “After an intense race in tough conditions, it is such a relief to stand in Victory Lane
